We begin by using loose, beginner-friendly techniques to paint our covers. Stitching is not required, but can be added as an additional layer of texture.
Next, we customize our inserts by adding coordinating color, and bits of interest.
Let's put it all together in a no-sew adjustable binding, and close it up with a scrappy fabric snippet roll.
Once completed, you'll have a hand-painted journal system ready for your thoughts, sketches, and memories.

You might be surprised to hear that my background is in chemistry, but it's that very love of experimentation and play that I bring to my creative practice. I truly believe that letting go of perfectionism can lead to a more joyful and stress-free creative life, and I'm on a mission to encourage others to embrace that journey.Â
After years of traveling, I'm now happily settled in Minnesota with my family, and when I'm not in my studio, you can often find me digging around in the garden.

Q: What is a TN?
TN stands for Traveler's Notebook. A TN consists of a sturdy, yet flexible cover filled with one or more notebook inserts. The inserts can be used for writing, planning, art journaling, etc. and they can be swapped out when full.
Q: When will the course begin?
The official start of the course is April 26, 2026. Course materials will be released weekly over 3 weeks. Once materials are released, they are available immediately upon purchase of the course.
Q. How long is the course available?
You have lifetime access to the course.
Q: What supplies will I need?
You'll have access to the full supply list and videos immediately upon registration. In general, you'll need
- watercolor paper, brush, and paint
- your choice of papers
- elastic, awl, and thread
- fabric scraps
- upholstry fabric
- glue or fusible webbing
- water soluble crayons and fineliners
- eyelet setter with eyelets
Q: Do I need a sewing Machine?
No, a sewing machine can be used but is not required.
Q: What kind of experience do I need?
No experience is necessary. This course is very beginner friendly!
