Lesson 3
Apple-tastic
Lesson 3 of the Simply Watercolor Series, Apple-tastic is inspired by the all the apple orchards and varieties of apples we grow here in Minnesota. I love going apple picking at this time of the year, and I always tend to bring home way more than I know what to do with!
Just as there are many varieties of apples, this lesson shows many varieties of ways that you can paint and decorate them.
As with every Simply Watercolor Series lesson, you will create beautiful watercolors while being encouraged to let go of perfectionism and embrace experimentation.
Don't worry if you haven't enrolled in previous lessons of the series. Each lesson is a stand alone course.
Key lesson Concepts:
- Learn wet-in-wet watercolor techniques
- Paint botanicals while exploring gouache paints
- Discuss what to keep in mind when creating a pleasing composition
- Play with timing of next layers to get the effects you want

Hi, I’m Tiffany Sharpe. I enjoy working with watercolor, mixed media, and creating unique handmade books. I’m a former chemistry teacher turned artist. Although not formally trained in art, I enjoy learning through experimentation and play. I hope to encourage others to let go of perfectionism and embrace a stress-free creative practice of their own. After much traveling, I’ve come to call Minnesota my home, where I live with my husband, two children, cat and puppy. When I’m not digging in my garden or learning a new hobby, you’ll find me out in nature collecting weeds and other treasures.

Q. Is this a membership? Will I be charged for future lessons?
-
This is not a membership. You will only be charged for the lessons that you purchase individually. However, each lesson is a full course with multiple videos that takes you through the steps from start to finish so you can paint the topic of each lesson in its entirety.
Q. Why didn't you make a larger course with multiple lessons?
- I wanted to make a smaller course where we can create a project from start to finish, with the focus on one main watercolor technique at a time. There are multiple techniques shown in each course, but there will be an in-depth video of one technique in each lesson. Each lesson will also include a mixed media focus, and a helpful tip on things like how to care for your supplies.
- I also wanted to keep the price low so you can try out a lesson with no obligation to buy more. In a larger course, you could pay over a hundred (or hundreds of) dollars, and many never complete these large courses.
